JEAN-BRUNO VALIQUETTE
DESIGNER AND LAB MANAGER
UNIVERSITÉ DU QUÉBEC À MONTRÉAL (UQAM)

Mechatronics, general programming, networks (intrabot, interbot), interface design. Trained as an engineer in Paris, he also has a strong artistic creativity which shows through all the work he does for the SAILS project.

Autonomous robot control. Potential of the unsupervised multitude and
investigation of swarm intelligence to outperform centralised coordination
schemes. 3D dynamic simulations. Julien has worked on the stabilization of the
cubes and a preliminary attempt for distributed self-organisation. Parallely, he
has fully characterised the cubes in a dynamic model in order to conduct
realistic experiments in simulation.

Julien Nembrini at EPFL

General design, structural design, manager for construction and assemblage, 03-04. Guillaume is responsible for the final design of the trusses and participated in the implementation of the M180 prototype; he also designed a clever device for fast truss assemblage.

Guillaume Credoz and Ateliers-U

Construction and assemblage, workshop management. Jean-Bruno (a.k.a JB ) is the general lab manager for all what concerns equipments, components and materials. He has been working on the SAILS project since summer 03.

INDEPENDANT ARTIST AND PROGRAMMER, QUEBEC CITY, CANADA

Paola did her final graduate project on the Mascarillons aerobots at NXI GESTATIO in 2003-2004. She was responsible for the preliminary design, components research and selection, prototyping, assemblage, and various experiments. She did a considerable study to define and locate the optimal components for the first aerobots. Her pioneer work was unvaluable to kickstart the project.

Jean-Christophe was Paola's supervisor during her training period in Montreal. His expertise in robotic flying devices (blimps and slow-flyers), transmitted trhrough numerous phone and e-mail communications, allowed Paola's preliminary explorations to result in a working prototype.

J.C. Zufferey at EPFL

Construction and assemblage (structure and electronics). Lucie works on electronic circuits assamblage and on general aerobot construction tasks. Christophe is a newcomer in the project, which is why his photograph is still to comme. He will work on precise measurements of different kinds (motor thrusts, lift), and on C programming for different modules related to the implementation of a user-friendly control interface.
